Oak Parquet Flooring in Carlisle

Parquet flooring blocks in Carlisle
Our sales of oak parquet flooring are available throughout Carlisle - all you have to do is choose your product size and grade and give us a call or complete your order online - as easy as this.

Our parquet flooring comes in various sizes. The smaller ones - 70 x 230 x 20 mm, 70 x 280 x 20 mm are suitable for smaller rooms, and 70 x 350 x 20 mm oak may look better on larger rooms. All our blocks come with tongue & groove fitting, which is located in a lower position, for better sandable depth and respectively longer life span.

Each pack of flooring contains the same number of left & right-oriented tongue & grooved blocks. This design is ideal for parquet flooring installation in a herringbone pattern. However, the blocks can be fitted in square and other patterns as well.

And when it comes to grading, there is a bit to offer for everyone - we do Prime, Natural and Rustic grades. Not sure, how timber grading works? Check our oak parquet flooring blocks product descriptions or speak to a member of staff.

Our Oak Parquet Blocks Grading System

If you are planning to buy wooden flooring, then you make yourself familiar with timber gradings. The UK has a standard with 3 levels of grading.

  • Rustic Grade Parquet Blocks - rich, vivid character allowing random size and form of knots and colour variation between the blocks;
  • Natural Grade Parquet Blocks - more calm, natural feeling of the timber, allowing limited sized knots of up to 5 mm and almost no colour variation between the blocks;
  • Prime Grade Parquet Blocks - clean oak timber without colour variation between the blocks; knots of 1 mm may appear randomly on 1 of 5 blocks.

Advice on Laying Parquet Flooring

Do you have previous experience in laying parquet flooring? If not, maybe the points below will be in your help.

  • Parquet blocks require perfect subfloor level. Do not use self-levelling compounds however to resolve these issues however - it is a common mistake.
  • Always apply liquid DPM on concrete subfloors.
  • Allow up to 5 days for the blocks for acclimatisation
  • Engineered parquet flooring comes prefinished, use flexible floor adhesives such as Bona R850 Flexible Silane Adhesive to make sure and stains can be easily cleaned.

Parquet Stock Availability

Although we try to keep our parquet flooring stock at levels, we cannot predict demand and sometimes certain grades and sizes are more popular than others.

So, what happens when we run out of current stock? If you have placed your order through our website and the blocks are currently not available, we will be in contact to advise you of this. We will offer you a full immediate refund if you need the flooring within a few days and we will offer a delayed delivery, which should be within 2 weeks with the next re-stocking.

New or Reclaimed Blocks?

Oak parquet flooring like any other wooden product is sensitive to moisture and therefore it is of great importance to be stored in dry places until used. Such places are supplier's warehouses, but cannot be garages, sheds, gardens, lofts or other places where people in Carlisle would normally store things they do not need any more.

This real-life example of how thousands of pounds can be wasted in fitting "free reclaimed blocks from my uncle's house" or "the cheap oak blocks I bid on eBay", can, later on, show how they can buckle up or crack, just weeks after the floor installation.

Let's not forget as well that sanding parquet blocks of different heights, will take much more consumables and time than finishing new blocks. This is just one example, showing why fitting reclaimed blocks will be much more expensive than new blocks.
