Parquet flooring blocks in Newry
We are covering Newry for all clients of oak parquet flooring. We have huge stock waiting for dispatch - just pick the size of your block and select the grade you'd like it in and your delivery will be with you shortly.

Our tongue-and-grooved oak parquet flooring blocks are available in Prime, Natural and Rustic grades and come in 3 different sizes. These are 70x230mm, 70x280mm and 70x350mm, all with 20mm thickness of the block. Each pack contains an equal number of blocks of left and right-oriented fitting - ideal for the installation of the parquet flooring in a herringbone pattern. It is possible of course to lay the blocks in many other patterns as well.

The lower-positioned tongue-and-groove provides approx 12mm of sandable depth, meaning a longer life for your floors.

We went a bit further by offering parquet flooring together with all necessary finishing and fitting products - we do parquet floor adhesives, wood floor varnish from Bona and Junckers and floor oils. We do oak thresholds and edgings and mouldings, beading in oak and MDF, skirting boards and more.

Reclaimed or New Parquet Blocks?

Parquet blocks are timber products and as such are sensitive to moisture. Storage of flooring should be done in purpose-built warehouses, not in garages, sheds, gardens, lofts or other places where people in Newry would normally store things they do not need any more.

This fact from life is a typical example of how thousands of pounds can be wasted in the installation of reclaimed blocks, which will buckle or crack weeks after the installation.

So, yes - the right advice does not go for reclaimed blocks unless you are certain how you do it.

Our Timber Grading System

Grading is an important bit of information about the wooden flooring you intend to buy. It defines the appearance of your floors and the price. We use the standard UK timber grading system.

  • Rustic Grade Parquet Blocks - rich, vivid character allowing random size and form of knots and colour variation between the blocks;
  • Natural Grade Parquet Blocks - more calm, natural feeling of the timber, allowing limited sized knots of up to 5 mm and almost no colour variation between the blocks;
  • Prime Grade Parquet Blocks - clean oak timber without colour variation between the blocks; knots of 1 mm may appear randomly on 1 of 5 blocks.

Tips on Laying Parquet Flooring

Many clients of ours have experienced floor fitters in Newry . However, some try to manage their own projects and lack some experience. Here are some major points that should be addressed with parquet flooring installations.

  • Parquet blocks require a good subfloor level. If your subfloor is concrete and uneven, do not resolve it with the application of a self-levelling compound, it is a common mistake.
  • Always apply a liquid DPM (damp proof membrane) to concrete subfloors to prevent moisture issues.
  • Allow parquet blocks to acclimatise to the room temperature if installed in cold weather.
  • Use only manufacturer recommended adhesive for the subfloor type. Consult adhesive specs before purchasing.
  • Choose a high quality underlayment for sound insulation and added stability.
  • Carefully follow all manufacturer instructions for subfloor preparation and installation.
  • Tap blocks gently into place with a rubber mallet rather than forcing them.
  • Allow adhesive to fully cure before sanding or finishing parquet flooring. Follow all manufacturer curing times.
  • Use only manufacturer recommended finishes and apply the proper number of coats.
  • Clean parquet flooring regularly with a damp mop and approved cleaner. Avoid excessive moisture.
