Parquet Flooring Blocks in Oxford

Parquet flooring blocks in Oxford
Located in Oxford with immediate availability of oak parquet flooring blocks you only have to choose your size and grade and see below what our parquet flooring blocks can offer.

Our range of parquet flooring includes 70x230mm, 70x280mm and 70x350mm oak blocks with 20mm thickness. All our parquet blocks come with tongue & groove fitting, located at a lower position, for a deeper sandable real oak layer and longer life span.

Each pack (approx. 1 sqm) contains an equal number of left & right tongue & grooved parquet blocks - ideal for fitting parquet flooring in a herringbone pattern. All our sizes allow fitting square patterns as well.

Our parquet flooring products come in Prime, Natural and Rustic grades, for all tastes. Please see our grading description with each product or speak to a member of staff for more information on timber grading.

Reclaimed or New Oak Blocks?

We get often approached by people thinking of installing reclaimed blocks so often that we have decided to say something about it on our website as well. Reclaimed Oak blocks can be cheaper, or more expensive than new oak blocks, but in any case, installing such should be out of the question, unless they are certain how they go about it.

Parquet flooring comes to market after timber has been carefully dried and checked before production. Blocks are stored in purpose-built warehouses, which will protect the product from increasing its moisture content. By bidding happily on eBay or taking the freebie bags of blocks from your cousin's shed, you are risking spending thousands of pounds on fitting and refinishing products, which may not be suitable for use in the condition it is.

When reclaimed blocks are laid together, they will be placed in a location different from before and therefore some blocks may be higher than others throughout the floors. The amount of sanding time and consumables required to level such floors may sometimes triple the effort of finishing new oak parquet flooring.

Final results will be acceptable, but far from what you would have joyed for, just like the bill.

Tips on Laying Parquet Flooring

Many clients of ours have experienced floor fitters in Oxford . However, some try to manage their own projects and lack some experience. Here are some major points that should be addressed with parquet flooring installations.

  • Parquet blocks require a good subfloor level. If your subfloor is concrete and uneven, do not resolve it with the application of a self-levelling compound, it is a common mistake.
  • Always apply a liquid DPM (damp proof membrane) to concrete subfloors to prevent moisture issues.
  • Allow parquet blocks to acclimatise to the room temperature if installed in cold weather.
  • Use only manufacturer recommended adhesive for the subfloor type. Consult adhesive specs before purchasing.
  • Choose a high quality underlayment for sound insulation and added stability.
  • Carefully follow all manufacturer instructions for subfloor preparation and installation.
  • Tap blocks gently into place with a rubber mallet rather than forcing them.
  • Allow adhesive to fully cure before sanding or finishing parquet flooring. Follow all manufacturer curing times.
  • Use only manufacturer recommended finishes and apply the proper number of coats.
  • Clean parquet flooring regularly with a damp mop and approved cleaner. Avoid excessive moisture.

Our Parquet Floor Grading System

  • Rustic Grade Parquet Blocks - rich, vivid character allowing random size and form of knots and colour variation between the blocks;
  • Natural Grade Parquet Blocks - more calm, natural feeling of the timber, allowing limited sized knots of up to 5 mm and almost no colour variation between the blocks;
  • Prime Grade Parquet Blocks - clean oak timber without colour variation between the blocks; knots of 1 mm may appear randomly on 1 of 5 blocks.
